3 Major Best Practices for 2017 SEO

3 Major Best Practices for 2017 SEO

Think back to the early 90s and 2000s, when Google was shiny and new. In the good ol’ days, Google’s search algorithm provided the most organic and relevant search results ranking webpages based on a relevancy score. Over the years, in order to remain competitive with other search engines and avoid being gamed by scammers, Google tweaked and prodded and twisted and expanded their algorithms into what is now a complex, emotional beast with a knack for swallowing websites whole. The most compelling tidbits on what makes the Google algorithm tick is a closely guarded secret in the Google tank, sensitive to the most basic semantics. Here are three major ways to make the 2017 algorithm changes work for you:

1. Quality over quantity, my friends. That old adage is famous for a reason. Google has a temper when it comes to blogs that push out poor content in order to sell services and merchandise, or websites that bombard visitors with click-bait ads. With the recent push for legitimate and fact-checked information across the media, Google has fixed algorithms that focus on suspicious-looking sites, so make sure your webpage isn’t one of them. Don’t buy reviews or shares, avoid paraphrasing tools or import links, and follow practices that uphold the integrity of your brand. Goggle works best with authenticity.

2. The content needs to be good. Content that’s crafted around your brand’s campaign will rate you higher in the mysterious vortex that is the Google algorithm. Make sure your content is doing one of three things: educating, entertaining, or informing. Any content you create and share should tie directly back to your brand, your mission, your values, or your field in some manner. While Google’s algorithm tends to scan through written copy the most, this is a great rule of thumb for all digital media. Make sure to keep it relevant.

3. Optimize your search terms. Search engine optimization (SEO) can be tricky, but the results can justify the task when done correctly. Yes, focus on words that relate back to your brand, but don’t hesitate to include other descriptors like location, field terms, or even competitors’ names. In addition, experiment! Tweak your blog titles, your search terms, your content just a bit, and check your analytics to see how those modifications affect your leads. Drop the changes that don’t work, and incorporate the ones that do into your SEO strategy.

As does every year, 2017 has brought about many subtle changes to Google algorithms that make it necessary to constantly re-strategize. Follow these tips and with a little patience, you’ll see your name on top. For more information on how we can help maintain your brand online, check us out at here.

I had this kind of outdated website representing my cleaning business online, it was not optimized for mobile and I gradually started losing customers. So, recently I decided to hire someone to make a new one or else I will have to shut it down. I found this company and they suggested a few really great designs for me to choose from for what seemed to me quite a reasonable price. Now I have a website that is a true representation of my business and so easy to use. I have plenty of new customers contacting me every day and asking for quotes and there were no recommendations, they just found me online and liked the way that my website looked.

My business website was a mess. It was outdated, too slow and completely unoptimized for mobile. I barely had any visits and inquiries. I know I have an excellent company, that our services are superb and I wanted my website to reflect our quality and dedication. I asked Steph and her team to make a new website for me and she sent me a proposition in just a few days and I instantly loved it. It is obvious that they have experience working with small businesses and creating websites for them specifically. Unsurprisingly, the number of my customers has been growing ever since and I will probably have to increase the number of employees in order to fulfill the demand.

When you own a small business, the website is pretty much the first thing your customer will see next to your social media profiles and, believe it or not, I didn’t even have a website at first. I searched for website design in the area and this company popped out, I liked their portfolio and decided to give them a chance. I explained what my business is all about and they said they will have a few design suggestions within a week. Really, a week later I received a few ideas and chose the ones that seemed to suit me and my business. I have just started investing in online marketing but traffic and the number of inquiries that I receive seems to be increasing.

I have been working as a plumber my whole life and I wanted to expand my business so I created a website about ten years ago. Turns out, the webdesign was pretty outdated and I wasn’t getting many customers while my competitors were thriving. I met Stephanie during a small business conference and she told me that they specialize in making websites for our industry so I agreed to hire their agency to make a new website for me immediately. Now I have constant influx of leads and quite a few regular customers that had found me through my website. The business has never been better and I think I owe a lot to their smart web design and optimisation.
