Why does your website provide you with no leads?

So, you spent a lot of time and effort setting up a visually stunning website with a great navigational structure and awesome content, but you’ve got no leads coming from your site. Why does your website provide you with no leads?

Your website is not meant to exist as a pretty house with all of the best appliances, sitting in a beautiful field, waiting patiently for new guests to arrive. On the contrary, your website wants to be lived in. Updated regularly. Visited daily. Your website wants you to send out open-house invitations, every day!

So, why aren’t you?

The point is, while your site and content may be awesome, they don’t do much on their own. Building a successful brand online requires hard work and dedication. After you’ve got all of the aesthetics and functionality of your website tested and working tip-top, you’ll need to start promoting the house you built. Pay-per-click advertisements are a great way to drive traffic to your site, but there are plenty of “no-cost” investments that you should be considering first.

Social channels are a great way to drive traffic to your site. On top of helping establish your expertise within a niche or several niches of your audience, you have the unique opportunity to reach out to people directly and provide them with what they are looking for. You’ll need to spend a few months or so building a social community before you start to see results, but once you are established within social channels, you’ll be able to leverage your position and promote your website more effectively.

Establishing as many channels of communication online as you can will yield quantifiable returns on your investment, if you stick with it. Do you have enough ways for website visitors to provide you with important feedback and ask important questions?

Enabling your site with multiple contact forms and content that updates regularly is important and lets your visitors know that you’re alive and responsive. The rule of thumb when creating and maintaining a presence online is the same as in real life: Do unto others as you would have done to you. Think about what you like about your favorite brands and how you might improve it, then become that observation and change.
